The release of ENSURED, an interactive online game that lets you take charge of Switzerland’s energy future, is now live! You can start playing today at www.sweet-sure.ch/game. In ENSURED, you step into the role of a key decision-maker, responsible for managing Switzerland’s energy system from now until 2050. Your mission? Lead the country to net-zero emissions while ensuring a stable energy supply, balancing environmental concerns, economic demands, security of supply, and social acceptance. Build renewable energy infrastructure, decide on electricity imports, introduce political measures, and face unexpected challenges like price hikes or extreme weather events. Every decision you make shapes how Switzerland will meet its energy needs in the future.
ENSURED was developed as part of the SWEET SURE consortium, funded by the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (BFE). Researchers from the University of Bern and the Università della Svizzera Italiana created the game to raise awareness of the complex dynamics behind the Swiss energy transition. It also serves as part of a national survey aimed at investigating whether playing the game can strengthen player ability and for and confidence in their energy policy decisions.
