Within the SWEET‑SURE project, research has documented the regional implementation of energy transition strategies in Ticino, exploring how methods and tools developed within the SURE consortium can align cantonal policies with national sustainability and resilience goals while reflecting local priorities. The case study combines system dynamics modelling, stakeholder engagement, and scenario development to analyse policy pathways, external shocks, and long‑term energy outcomes, providing evidence‑based recommendations for a resilient and sustainable energy system.
This work was carried out by the research team at Scuola Universitaria Professionale della Svizzera Italiana (SUPSI) and is detailed in two reports. The first, Report on local stakeholder analysis and system mapping, outlines the methodological foundation of the Ticino case study, describing the stakeholder engagement process and the co‑development approach used to design a cantonal energy system model aligned with the SURE framework. You can read it here.
The second, Report on the cantonal socio‑technical model, presents the operational version of the Ticino Socio‑Technical Energy Transition model, translating stakeholder inputs into a functional analytical tool and demonstrating its application through preliminary policy testing and sensitivity analyses. It is available here. Both reports were prepared by Matteo Palucci, Jalomi Maayan Tardif, Francesca Cellina, and Roman Rudel.
