Interactive learning on commons and energy management in Chania Summer School

During the 13th Summer School of Environmental Journalism in Chania, Crete, hosted at the Regional Press Institute (RPI) and organised by Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Evgenia Tsianou led the playful and thought-provoking workshop “Musical chairs as commons: The resource challenge.” Designed to familiarize participants with the concepts of the commons and natural resource management, the workshop first explored scarcity and exclusion through the traditional musical chairs game, then reversed the game: instead of eliminating participants, everyone collaborated to share the diminishing chairs, sparking discussions about collective resource management. Participants also had the opportunity to brainstorm solutions for real-world community challenges, such as the co-management of energy resources.
