How to write a policy brief: Turning SURE research into actionable knowledge

The Energy Strategy 2050 relies on evidence, and the SURE project is producing exactly the type of integrated, cross-sector knowledge needed to strengthen Switzerland’s resilience. However, research only matters if it reaches decision-makers in a form they can use. To address this, we held a workshop at our General Assembly in Lausanne last November, focused on developing policy briefs that translate SURE’s findings into concise, actionable insights.

Inputs were provided by Alessandra Stampi-Bombelli, a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of Prof. Dr. Giuseppe Pietrantuono at the Department of Sociology since 2025. Alessandra’s work combines computational linguistic methods to analyze attitudes and biases, with a focus on naturalization, integration, and policies that lower barriers to citizenship. She previously completed her doctoral studies at the ETH Immigration Policy Lab and the ETH Center for Law & Economics, and has an M.Sc. in Economics from HEC Lausanne. Among her prior projects, one on naturalization was nominated for the Eurocities Prize 2024
